Service & Repair

Every employee of DG Bicycles is a bike mechanic. This means that whether you talk to Scott, Charles, John, or Mark, you'll be talking to someone who understands your problem and can make a proper estimate or give you helpful advice.

In addition to the basic repairs such as tube replacement, brake adjustment, chain replacement, and such, we also offer 2 bicycle maintenance selections; a tune-up and an overhaul. Doesn't everyone offer a tune-up? Yes they do. We just do it better. ;)

For a tune-up, your bike will be cleaned and polished, your wheels will be trued both laterally AND radially, all cables will be lubed, chain will be lubed, headset will be adjusted, bottom bracket will be adjusted (if applicable), wheel bearings will be adjusted (ditto), brakes and shifting will be adjusted, tire pressure will be set (please tell us when dropping off your bike if you have a personal tire pressure preference), and the bike will be checked over for safety and performance. We will not try to sell you parts or services you do not need, but if we find something wrong, we will definitely let you know. Your safety and enjoyment on the bike are what we are maintaining. The cost for this remarkably complete service? Merely $54.99.

Maybe you need an overhaul. If it has been a while since your bike was serviced, or if your bike is an older model, I definitely recommend an overhaul versus a tune-up. With an overhaul, your bike is disassembled. All parts are thoroughly cleaned and lubed - this includes pivot points on derailleurs and such - and are reinstalled. Wheel bearings are removed, cleaned or replaced, and lubed with fresh new grease. This does not apply, of course, to cartridge bearings. The bottom bracket receives similar treatment, again, unless it is a sealed unit. The headset is also disassembled and the bearings cleaned and re-greased (void in Hawaii or where the headset has cartridge bearings). The wheels are trued both laterally and radially, the chain is degreased, reinstalled, and lubed. We also replace your cables and housings. If you have a road bike, this will likely require the purchase of new bar tape. When you pick up your bike, it will be as good as - or better than - new. For this lavish attention to your bike, we charge a pittance of $139.99.
